It's a Wonderful Day, in the Neighbourhood
It's been a good day. The shaw guy with the sexy british accent fixed my internet, which has been down for nearly 10 years (ok, ok. It's barely even a week, but still...). He also loved the critters, and got along with the cat so well it was tempting to keep him. Except he was married, so that just doesn't do well at all.
So after he left I made some yummy Amy's Mushroom Soup and watched "The Secret Window" which was nothing that I expected. Oh, I liked the movie and all, I just didn't think it was one of these wierd twisty movies. But it's Johnny Depp, so I can't complain.
So off I went to the library... which has changed alot since I've been in it last, which, as the lady who gave me my shiny new card explained, "must be a million years!" Must have been. Last time I was there it was all carpeted and the kids section was alot smaller.
After a confusing round about with the reference books, I finally came out of there with a wonderful giant book all on snakes. I had been looking for something more with the anatomy and such, but since it was out, I got one the Snakes of US and Canada.
...and it has a pretty indigo snake on the cover!...
So on my way home, I got stopped to get a fruits-icle (You know, the Del-mont ones that are supposedly 100% fruit? Even if they aren't 100% fruit, they're still yummy.) as well as more solution for my foot problem. I'm going to see if there are any other solutions to that particular problem... it just doesn't want to go away. I get rid of one, and OH LOOK there's another. *sigh* But hey, I'm trying.
So on my way out. whaddya know? There's a pair of wonderful looking policemen in uniform walking in front of me. Young and in shape.... mmmm...... and I'm not talking about the fruits-icle.
Happy or optimistic thought of the day:
I saw a totally run down house on my way home. The shingles were falling off, there were cracks around the windows, the cement was chipped badly... but.... the door was the most gorgeous shade of red I've ever seen. Even in something so hideous, there's always something wonderful.
So, now I'm home. Back in my house coat. It's not really sunny, but it's nice and HUMID. I don't have dirt caked to the back of my throat, and for once, I can BREATHE! I get to finally go back to work on Wednesday. (Oh yeah. My doc informed me that I have minor pneumonia and should stay home. Great. Thanks, now that it's almost over, right?) So it's been a week of unpaid sick leave, but in a way it's nice to do things without being so rushed all the time. It was a wierd feeling, especially today, to be able to walk and take my time in the library. I'm always in some kind of hurry. Hurrah! And tomorrow, I'm going to the bank, and grocery shopping, and then to the pet store for more bugs.
Hazzah!
